Having reviewed different approaches to pedagogical process management for preschoolers, the School uses “Development” Programme (authors: L. A. Wenger, O. M. Dyachenko, N. S. Varentsova et al) approved by The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation which is very popular among practicing educators. The Programme is based on a very solid theoretical framework and experimental research. It is built upon concept by A.V. Zaporozhets which attaches high inherent value to pre-school development period (amplification) at pre-school age, and concept by L. A. Wenger about nurturing cognitive skills in preschool children through learning sensory standards, visual, imaginative and symbolic models. The priority objective of the Programme is the development of a child’s mental abilities. Special attention is paid to learning solutions to cognitive and creative problems by students. The difference from other similar programs is in the criteria of a child’s advancement – learning corresponding ways of activity and not mere accumulation of knowledge and skills.
In addition, the integrity of educational process with “zero” year students is ensured by way of qualified selection of partial (specialized and local) programs. In the educational process for teaching preschoolers, partial programmes with aesthetical focus are employed: musical development (“Musical Highlights” Programme by O. P. Radynova), graphic activities and crafts (“Color Hands” Programme by I. A. Lykova); physical training (“Be Healthy” Programme by M. L. Lazarev) and English (Playway Programme by Gunter Gerngross and Herbert Puchta). English lessons are held in the form of a game using communicational techniques based on Cambridge textbooks. Lessons are designed as role-plays with use of integrative approach.
