Golf Course Project Goes At Full Speed
A Golf Course project is underway in Istochnik Private School. As part of its implementation, a group of students together with the project leader and supervisor visited a golf club in Kazan, Russia.
This long expected trip provided children with a unique chance to see with own eyes what they had studied since the start of the project.
The main goal of the trip was to become familiar with a golf course infrastructure and golf rules in practice. The training lasted two days for 6 hours each. As children never played golf before, the trainer began from explanation of rules and demonstration of strokes with different types of clubs. After a brief introduction on how to hold a club, children practiced their strokes in a special training facility. During the practice students asked various questions related to course layout, irrigation, mowing, etc.
Despite a cloudy and rainy weather, children continued lessons on the second day dedicated to practicing putting strokes on the green (area with the grass level of only 5 mm!) with putters provided. After the lessons, a golf-car tour around a nine-hole course constructed nearby was arranged.
These two days flew by in a blink of an eye. Children came back home full of positive emotions. They are going to visit Kazan golf club once again in August and receive the second stage of training which will allow them to train others to play golf and share acquired knowledge.
The school’s Golf Course project was launched last summer. Since then students learned project management basics, presented the project to Volga-Dnepr’s management, developed a project initiative, took part in the 7th Project Session “Project Activity as a Volga-Dnepr Group Survival and Development Instrument”. Now, the construction of golf course on the Istochnik school territory goes at full speed and will be finished in October this year.
