Istochnik Author School launched the IB Authorization Process

Sençer Donmes, International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) consultant made the official visit to Istochnik School.

The visit’s objective was to assist the School’s preparation activities through IB Diploma Programme (DP) implementation. After successful process completion Istochnik School will be certified as International Baccalaureate School. The Diploma Programme is a unique course for graduate students which leads to receiving IB Diploma, a ticket to enroll in almost any university worldwide.

Sençer Donmes spent two very busy days in Ulyanovsk. In his first day the Istochnik schoolchildren took him on excursion around the campus and described the school in English. Then IBO consultant had thorough discussion with a representative of Ulyanovsk State University, a long-term partner of Istochnik School. Sergey Mitin, Dean of Department of Humanities and Social Technologies stressed the requirements for teachers, to comply with international IBO standards. Sençer Donmes held a meeting with the teachers of Istochnik, the pupils and their parents and answered all their questions.

During his second day in Ulyanovsk Mr. Donmes visited the office of Volga-Dnepr Airlines, the founder of Istochnik School. IBO consultant had a meeting with Alexander Sidorin, Executive President and Vladimir Yakovlev, VP for Human Resources where they discussed the long-term strategy of skilled aviation personnel training using the resources of Istochnik School and Volga-Dnepr Corporate University. Also Sençer Donmes visited FOC Center and took part in demonstration training flight by AN-124-100 Full Flight Simulator.

Later this day in Istochnik School Mr. Donmes was introduced to Olga Mezina, Head of Educational Department of Ulyanovsk. “We pay great attention to these steps taken by Istochnik School under IB Authorization Programme. Hopefully, Istochnik will smoothly pass the verification stage, and we are offering any assistance required in the course of IB implementation”, stated Olga Mezina.

International Baccalaureate Organisation Consultant devoted special attention to the results of School preparation and highlighted the possible issues in the course of IB Diploma Programme implementation.

Summing up visit results, Sençer Donmes said: “My visit is just a milestone of the long way to launching IB Programme. It is a long-term goal which requires much effort and time. I’ve been providing consulting services to Istochnik during several months before my arrival, and I’ve spent these two days in close communication with IB Coordinators, teachers and School management, I tried to address most of their issues. After my departure we will keep in touch, and when Istochnik feels ready for the next stage, IBO will send another two experts to Ulyanovsk for verification.
